STAR WARS EPISODE ONE: RACER
God knows I've tried, hunted and made an effort to think of something that's wrong with this game.
But the truth is there's not a thing I'd change about it, this is seriously good fun.
Podracing looks great to watch but it's so much better to be in the driving seat. There's a choice of 23 different pods (including Anakin's and Sebulba's) and a variety of tracks.
Starting with Tatooine, there's 11 others in your race and as soon as you hit the accelerator it becomes clear just how fast these things can go. With speeds of up to 600mph and at four feet off the ground this is the closest thing you'll get to a simulator without having to buckle up.
Differing views allow you to be
even closer to the floor and feel the turns even more sharply. Tatooine is relatively easy
to win at but it soon gets harder as the turns become more acute and unpredictable, which
means the map on the side comes in very handy.
And before you start there's an invitation to join Watto to up-grade your craft if you wish.
But it's the ever-shifting ground below the pod and smashing into other vehicles that make this game one of the greatest ever. If you only buy one Star Wars game, then make sure it's this one...
