Uploading your pictures
(please read before submitting pictures)
- Upload your pictures by sending them as an email attachment. You should upload them as
JPEG format. Attach your best pictures, (please no 'me and my friends were here' pictures!)
We will post as many in the Guests' gallery as time will allow.
- In keeping with the general theme of the pictures in Global Images, your pictures should,
ideally, illustrate the diverse natural or cultural aspects of our World.
- To save too much processing and perhaps loss of quality, it would be best if the image size
is at least 500 pixels width or height, whichever is the longest. A thumbnail print of your
picture will appear in the Guests' gallery which will link to the larger picture.
- In order to give a title and perhaps some context to the picture, include in the body of your
email, your name, where the picture was taken and any other comments. If you wish, we could hyperlink
your pictures to your email address or website, if you have one; let us know the URL in your email.
- The quality of scanned pictures can be variable (as some of the pictures already in the
Global Images' galleries illustrate!), so it has been suggested to use "unsharp mask" in your
graphics package to improve clarity. When saving your pictures, don't use a compression of
less than 65% as this is when loss of quality is most noticeable. It is preferable, however, if
you avoid any graphical manipulation or keep it down to a minimum, such as just sharpening images etc..
- Please make sure that you own the copyright, (you took them), for these pictures
or have permission to submit them from the person who took them. They remain your property and will not be
used for any other purpose than to contribute to the Guests' gallery in this website. A warning
message will appear to those who try to download them from Global Images, though it is impossible
to guarantee that they will not be able to be copied by an unscrupulous surfer.
- The Guests' gallery is a new addition to Global Images. Initially, I propose it to be a small
but important part of the website but an area that will gradually become very popular. It is impossible
in anyone's lifetime and certainly mine, to travel all over the World, to see and photograph the
diversity of it's wonders. I hope that the Guests' gallery will go some way to begin to
'plug the huge gaps' in my current representation of the World in Global Images, as
well as sharing your best photographs of your travelling experiences with others.
