In the outstandingly beautiful South Hams, on the edge of the Village of Aveton Gifford, we are just 4½ miles from the market town of Kingsbridge, off the A379 to Plymouth (17 miles). This former mill house, with it's tidal millpond and mill leat, overlooks the River Avon and pastures surrounding the house.

A small jetty on the mill leat gives access at high tide to the main river for dinghies, canoes, etc., and we have plenty of storage space in the outbuildings for bikes etc.

Our beautiful gardens and orchard are mature and relaxing, and we enjoy sharing them with our guests. we also share them with many varieties of garden bird, with occasional visits from wild mallard, herons, cormorants, shags and kingfishers.

Five minutes walk down the lane is the village of Aveton Gifford with thirteenth century Norman church, post-office stores, a pub, village green and tennis courts. The No.93 bus passes through, connecting Plymouth with Kingsbridge and Dartmouth. Visit the National Marine Aquarium in Plymouth, or experience a day trip to the newly-opened Eden Project, only 90 minutes away by car.

A tidal road runs from the village to Bigbury and walkers can enjoy car-free days exploring the Avon Estuary Walk, which gives access to the South Devon Coastal Paths. These are largely National Trust owned, and offer miles and miles of spectacular views and lookout points.

We are 7 miles from Salcombe, 8 miles from Dartmoor and only 4 miles from beautiful sandy beaches at Bigbury-on-Sea and Bantham.
