The Wersi Enthusiasts Society was formed in January 1980 by Ron Franklin. He ran the Society for 18 years reaching its peak in 1989 with 694 members. I joined with my wife Anna in 1986. At the time I joined, the South East Wersi Keyboard Club run by Reg Webb was affiliated to the WES. There were regular annual trips to WERSI in Halsenbach accompanied by sight seeing tours and concerts boasting some of the greatest artists in the organ world - pictures of past visits may be seen on my "gallery" page. Also there was an annual get together at the Century in Wembley with the the South East Wersi Keyboard Club. Supported by Chris Giles and Margaret Mason. In 1998 the Enthusiasts Society was taken over by Len Steele who did a great job trying to organise some technical support for those of us with WERSI instruments joining with Pincents Promotions for get togethers at Gunton Hall, and with Byron Jones for WERSI weekends in Coventry. Unfortunately Len now feels that with so many other commitments he is no longer able to produce a regular newsletter. Although not able to answer technical queries, he is still prepared to assist people with queries on WERSI products and possibly put people in touch with other WERSI owners in the UK. I know it takes up a lot of ones spare time to run a newsletter so a vote of thanks is needed to both Ron and Len for their good work. The name of WERSI carries on ; there are new organs from both the "Thomas" and the "Music Production" sides of the court, as well as many people who still get enjoyment from their existing WERSI products. If you are UK resident and interested in taking over the running of the Societies newsletter then please contact Len Steele. | |||||||||||||||||||||||
