2002
After 16 and a half years in Stony Stratford, Colin and Frances Bennett retired
on Sunday 6th January 2002. A service of Thanksgiving and a lunch was held in
honour of their faithful ministry at the Church.
At a presentation shortly afterwards, Colin mentioned that during his time here at Stony he has performed 16 Baptisms, 21 people have been born, of which 5 have been dedicated, and 52 people have joined the church since 1985. He has taken 39 funerals, of which 14 were Church members.
The first fruits of his ministry here was Andrew Lucas, who is now a Minister in Northern Ireland. Later on was Richard Inns who has recently taken up a Pastorate in Chester.
After many joys, encouragements, some sad nesses and disappointments, as a fellowship we have all been as one. Pastor Bennett remarked, "It has been a privilege to serve God here and we thank and praise Him for this".
We wish them well in their retirement, and pray that the Lord will richly bless them as they start this new chapter of their lives.
