The star was awarded for one day operational service on  land in Italy, Sicily, Greece, Yugoslavia, the Aegean area and Dodecanese islands, Corsica, Sardinia and Elba at any time between 11 June 1943 and 8 May 1945.

DESCRIPTION

A six-pointed star. 1.5 inches

OBVERSE

The star has a circular centre with the GRI/VI monogram, surmounted by a crown and inscribed THE ITALY STAR round the foot.

REVERSE

MOUNTING

A small ring at the top of the cross through which a larger ring passes.

RIBBON

The ribbon consists of equal stripes of red, white, green, white, and red. The colours represent the colours of the Italian flag.
