Awarded for operational service in the Pacific theatre of war from 8 December 1941 to 15 August 1945. Service with the Royal and Merchant navies in the Pacific Ocean, Indian Ocean and South China Sea and land service in these areas also qualified. Personnel qualifying for both Pacific and Burma Stars received the first star and a clasp in respect of the second. The Star was awarded for one day or more of operational service.

DESCRIPTION

A six-pointed star. 1.5 inches

OBVERSE

The star has a circular centre with the GRI/VI monogram, surmounted by a crown and inscribed THE PACIFIC STAR round the foot.

REVERSE

MOUNTING

A small ring at the top of the cross through which a larger ring passes.

RIBBON

The ribbon consists of seven coloured stripes: red, narrow dark blue, green, narrow yellow (centre), green, narrow light blue, and red. The colours represent the jungle, the beaches, and the army, navy and air force.
