Bit of a cheek, this. Not a proper review (and the tyres were second hand!)

AR7E have done a number of long trips recently - including the Four Counties Rumble (450 miles in a day - including a good 250 or so on the motorways...) and it just wasn't worth burning up the good-old Avon CR500s...

So we've picked up a spare set of wheels with Bridgestone RE720 tyres - the reasoning being that these are relatively cheap, last much longer than the Avons and can be used in less competitive classes in sprints etc.

They have a small side advantage of being a taller profile - handy for saving the sump...

So what are they like? Erm, well, we've been spoiled by the Avons, obviously. The 720s have *much* less grip - and we're still trying to work out if sliding around is more fun than pulling big lateral G's... We'd probably quite like an LSD now that traction is an issue...

Update Feb '04

OK - perhaps the last paragraph was a bit OTT - grip is fine, but the Bridgestones do move around somewhat.

We've now done approximately 4000 miles (plus 144 track miles - which are usually converted to x10 = 1440 road miles) - and of course the tyres had been buffed down to 4mm tread *and* sprinted on a number of occassions...

...and they're still going strong! We like...
