Assuming that you've jacked the car up, and removed the right-rear wheel for access, you now need to undo the diff oil filler plug.

On standard diffs, this uses a 10mm hex (allen) key - but we recommend that you obtain a socket-drive version so that you don't need to keep removing the key and reinserting it to remove the plug fully...

...it will also allow you to get some extra leverage -handy if the plug was as tight as this one...

You can just about see from this picture that we ended up needing the assistance of a 50cm breaker-bar (1/2 inch drive -connected to the 10mm hex stub via a 1/2 to 1/4 inch converter) to get the thing moving. Once the plug was persuaded to start moving, a conventional 1/4 inch drive socket wrench completed the job.
