Right, in the quest to replace the propshaft, we've discconnected the rear anti-roll bar (if fitted) and moved the brake calipers safely out of the way of the disks. This next stage will remove the entire driveshaft, hub and brake disc assembly from the rear suspension. It's quite simple really... Probably the easiest way to illustrate the procedure is by using the 'after' image below: Click Image for Full Size Key: A- wire suspending brake calipers (disconnected from De Dion Ear) B- Diff orifice - the splined end of the driveshaft lived in here C- Rear Anti-roll bar - dangling free, but still trapped by the diff etc. D- Oil drain can - collecting (some) spillage of diff oil E- Lower forward bolt hole in De Dion Ear F- Remaining bolt holes(!) The driveshaft assembly is secured to the car by four bolts that clamp a retaining plate to the De Dion 'ear'. The three 'F' bolts are straightforward - they are retained using conventional nuts on the back of the ear. The 'E' bolt has the additional task of connecting the anti-roll bar to the De Dion tube via a droplink. We merely mention this as; a) it will stop you hunting for two 'lost' nuts during reassembly and b) you need to threadlock the droplink connections... Once all four E and F bolts are removed (and the oil drain can in place...), the entire driveshaft (complete with brake disc, hub etc.) can be carefully slid first out of the diff and then completely free through the De Dion ear and placed somewhere safe so that the brake disc and splined driveshaft are not damaged. It's all going pretty well so far - now let's pull the suspension properly apart...
