What does it do? |
||||
| The Coalition combines the finances, skills, experience and resources available from all these organisations to facilitate crime prevention initiatives in response to identified needs. The Coalition has two main areas of activity - Business Crime Initiatives and the Youth Programme. | ||||
Business Crime Initiatives |
||||
|
This group concentrates
on the effect of crime on businesses throughout the region and implements
measures to tackle the problems. Examples of these are an initiative
to help businesses hit by burglary, the establishment of the North
East Retail Crime Partnership to target prolific shop thieves in the
region, and involvement in Crime Free Zone. |
||||
The Youth Programme |
||||
|
The Coalition's
Youth Programme focuses on giving young people opportunities to express
themselves, develop skills and confidence and participate in constructive
activities. For example, the Odysseus Mentoring Project aims to link
young people at risk of offending with a mentor from the business
or voluntary sector. The SkiL Project helps committed young people
to develop their leadership skills with a view to supporting others
in the community. |
