John Garland married Sarah White by license at Darfield on 17 November 1796. Sarah's parents were Joshua Charles White, born 4 March 1749, died before 1796, and Martha Pilley, who had married in 1772. Sarah was baptised 28 March 1777 at Bolton-on-Dearne.
