Robert Thornton
Robert was born 13 May 1825 in Pollington, and baptised 5 June 1825 at Snaith. He married Tabitha Priestley (born 1830 at 34 Brookes Yard, Heck) on 22 May 1848, and they had 5 children:
In 1867 Robert was a platelayer with the Great Northern Railway, living at Arksey. By 1881, however, he was a colliery labourer living in the Shipcroft area of Wombwell. His son Thomas (b1858) followed him as a miner.
