Bristol Scout Circa 1917














This was salvaged from a Jumble Sale, the original is 4.5 in by 3 in.
The photo was probably taken at Catterick in 1917. Although one of the first British fighters to be “mass produced”, it started life unarmed but after first having a Lewis Gun attached to its side, it became the first British fighter to be fitted with a synchronised machine gun. However, by 1917 it had been withdrawn from Front Line service and was used as a Trainer.
