Having visited Eastern USA before, it was time to see the East in 1991. My friend Steve was working in Dallas, so I flew there first, then travelled alone on to L.A, via El Paso (and briefly over the Mexican border to Juarez). I stayed in Santa Monica at a youth hostel near the beach and the bodies beautiful!. Aftre a few days I travelled on to the Grand Canyon (one of those awesome sights that lives up to all expectations). Then on to visit family friends in Portland, Oregon. The moody skies and sea scenery there was really impressive. Then on to Salt Lake City, where I visited the Mormon Cathedral and the sports arena where my favourite basketball team, the Utah Jazz, are based. On to the bright lights of Las Vegas where I left as a winner (if only of a few dollars) and San Diego, with the amazing Sea World.
I met up with Steve again in L.A. and after we saw the sights there, we headed off to San Fransisco. This tightrope walker was at Fishermans' Wharf. We visited Alcatraz and enjoyed the headphone commentary from various ex-inmates. Then we travelled to Yosemite Park where we had gorgeous weather in this most attractive of places. Finally, we headed back to Dalla, via St Louis, where we watched my favourite baseball team, the Cardinals. Then back to Dallas’ "grassy knoll" before flying home. A great holiday!
