Grades
Of 12 assignments in two years I have achieved 7 Pass 1 grades in the Open University marking scheme used by OUDCE - which requires >84%, comprehensive knowledge, penetrating critical judgement, convincing expression, excellent presentation and evidence of original analysis.
I have sat two examinations and my combined grade averages are 73% for the Neolithic and Bronze Age Module and 77% for the Anglo-Saxon Module.
To date I have taken part in an Oxford University Summer School excavation at Segsbury Camp on the Ridgeway, run by Gary Lock and, this year, excavated a Romano British site near Farnham (director Steve Dyer) with the Surrey Archaeological Society and intend to become actively involved with a Thames valley based archaeology group, probably EMAS.
I am making extensive use of continuing education through evening and distance learning, I have recently completed an Archaeological Site Drawing and Photography course with the University of Surrey Centre for Continuing Education who run a number of interesting evening class based courses which fit together to form a BSc degree program.
I have given up full time work as of April and am looking after my new son Daniel with my fiancee working full time. I begin part time study of Archaeology at my local University at Reading in October on their MA Archaeology program.
I would like to study early classical civilisation and more Anglo-Saxon archaeology (and hopefully some more prehistory although I'm not sure how to fit that in).
