RUMI VIENNA                    Home Page

In Austria the majority of Rumi owners do not belong to an organised club or society.

The Rumi owner collects and enjoys his Rumi generally on his/her own.

Rumi Vienna is the successor organisation of the "Rumi Klub Wien"             (The Rumi incorp society Vienna) which was founded in the 1950s.

The society still exists which consists of approx five members.

These pictures were sent in by W. Zlamalik and R Baldassari some of which were taken at the Oldtimers fair in Tulln 2005

Here is a sample of their collection of scooters and bikes

The society stand

Far left is what can only be described as a Rumi graveyard. I wish my garden looked like that. ( I hope they have all been restored)

Left the picture shows a workshop in Austria with engineers working on Rumis and other machines in the mid fifties

Far left a Rumi takes part in a hill climbing event sometime around 1957. It looks more like a race event at Crystal Palace..

Left is what looks like a stretched Rumi but look closer and you will see its in three pieces. The rumi is placed on stands to show how the Rumi is manufactured in three main sections. Looks ideal for maintenance as well.

The Rumi society of  Vienna should be proud of their wonderful collection of scooters and motorcycles

The Rumi Club UK wishes to thank Werner Zlamalik and Reinhardt Baldassari for these pictures.

Society Contact is Mr W Zlamalik, Baumberggasase 1A - 1200 Wien.

Pictures from Oldtimer fail, Tulln 22/05/08

Rumi Vienna has just acquired this very rare Rumi 200.

The rear section showing the raised mudguard. The machine was probably used in trial events.

The Rumi 200 is in need of some restoration, however Rumi Vienna will enjoy the task I'm sure.

The Genius of Fabbri Giuseppe

Fabbri Giuseppe was a genius engineer who saw potential in all things mechanical.

Fabbri first introduced the 4 cylinder Rumi which caught the eye of Riccard Crippa. Riccardo Crippa now has the Giuseppe Rumi sitting proudly in his collection.

As you can see from the above pictures Fabbri did not stop at the 4 cylinder. Fabbri went on to produce the 6 cylinder inline engine as shown top left, a fantastic achievement but look at his other achievements. Centre picture shows an incredible 4 cylinder V 250cc engine and top right the 8 cylinder V 500cc power plant.

Fabbri Giuseppe could have gone on to even greater things but unfortunately passed away before they could be realized. Fabbri was without doubt an incredible designer and engineer.

Thanks to the Oldtimers Rumi Vienna for these pictures of Fabbri and his engines taken in Italy during 1966 in memory of Fabbri Giuseppe.
