HOT (?) GOSSIP

9/5/01 Having secured the League Title last week at the expense of Milton, Blues, last night, added to their trophy collection, the Challenge Trophy. They beat Maybank 4-0 at Harrison Park, and they meet them again on Sunday in the League Cup Final. victory in this match would mean back-to-back "Trebles" for Blues.
7/5/01 Blues have just returned from a tournament in Fleetwood. Over the weekend, they won their group, but were unfortunate to lose in the semi final. The most striking thing in the tournament was the size of the opposition. I'm sure that they were meant to be playing in the U15's tournament!!!!
1/4/01 Blues run of 51 games without defeat came to an unexpected end at Brookhouse Bombers. They, unbelievably, lost 3-1. Their last defeat came at U10 level, and they obviously went the whole of 2000 without losing. Despite the defeat, the boys must be congratulated for such a fine achievement.
23/3/01 There is a rumour going roung that Endon have resigned from the league. I'm sorry if this is true, because it means that 15 lads will now be without a game on a Sunday. This will have a knock-on effect on Blues, because they have taken six points off them, and scored 20 goals against them - including the cup match. So some boys will have these goals deducted from their personal tallies.
20/1/01 Although the website has been in existance since about September 1999, I have only just put a counter on. Could be interesting, but then again.......
23/3/01 More congratulations are in order to Junior Blues, who having been voted Leek Sports Council "Team of the Year 2000" (see 19/2/01), last night they were voted The Staffordshire Moorlands Team of the Year, at the annual awards at The Alton Towers hotel.
11/3/01 As somebody who has just been to Derby versus Tottenham (UP THE SPURS!) and Stoke versus Swansea, plus most Leek Town home games (it just got sadder, didn't it!) I feel that it is important to speak up for football fans who wish to watch the Great Game.
So it is with this in mind that this website is 100% behind the "Save Chip" campaign. Readers ignorant of this superb campaign should watch Soccer AM on Sky on Saturday mornings. It is vital that we should be allowed to watch our teams, no matter how bad they may be. So it is that -

7/3/01 If it isn't the weather, it's something else! Matches are now being called off because of the "Foot and Mouth" problems.
19/2/01 CONGRATULATIONS to Junior Blues won the Leek Sports Council "Team of the Year 2000." They now go on to the "final" against the winners of the same category from Cheadle and Biddulph.
Congratulations are also in order for Gareth Allott, who won the Junior Personality of the Year award.
NOTE: - THAT (QUITE RIGHTLY) LEE PEARSON WON THE SENIOR "PERSONALITY OF THE YEAR" AWARD. LEE KINDLY DONATED HIS WINNINGS TO LEEK TOWN U12's. SO FOR THAT, LEE, A VERY, VERY BIG THANK YOU. ALL THE VERY BEST TO YOU IN ATHENS, AND ANY FUTURE EVENTS.
Six Junior Blues show off their awards for Leek Sports Council "Team of the Year 2000".
Lee Pearson knows he's made it now, as he proudly poses with some of the Junior Blues.
The weather has picked up (dried out!), so things seem to be returning to normal. Some of the other leagues have had to be abandoned, due to the number of cancelled games. They are now playing "mini-leagues", where the top half of the league play in a new mini-league, of their own, and so too, the bottom half.
Danny Lawlor seems to have left us. There's been no sign of him for weeks - a pity.
Season 2000/01 promises to be far more competitive than the last one, with several new teams joining the U12 League (as we'll now be in).
Junior Blues entered an 11 - a side competition at Skegness over the weekend of 27/28/29th May 2000. Unfortunately, due to the weather, the competition was abandoned. Blues, despite being awful, and still the better team (!), managed to salvage a draw in both their games before the rain let loose, even though they did their best to lose!!
This was a typical view from our apartment at Butlins - raining! What looks to be a meandering stream, is in fact the footpath. This picture was taken from the "quiet block". The rowdy ones were situated in the block on the right!
