BLUES
9-1 WINDMILL WARRIORS
4/2/01
Blues relentless pursuit
of back to back league titles continued with an emphatic win again bottom
of the table, Windmill Warriors. The Westwood pitch helped them considerably,
which despite the recent heavy rain, was in excellent condition.
It was a very spirited start by Blues,
and they were rewarded after only two minutes when Sam Hall pulled the
ball back to Matt Anderson, who
unleashed an unstoppable shot from the edge of the area.
On ten minutes, Danny Gruic and Jamie Robinson linked
well down the left flank to enable Gareth Allott
to finish superbly. Warriors didn't even have time to get their breath
back, before Blues scored their third.
A clever lobbed pass to Jamie Robinson
gave him the opportunity to pick his spot, which he did with ease.
The first-half scoring was wrapped up when Sam
Hall's pass found Matt Anderson, and his turn and pass to Gareth
Allott, gave him the simple task of putting the ball into
the back of the net.
H/T: - Junior Blues 4-0 Warriors
The second half started explosively, with two gaols
in the first two minutes. The spectators were still enjoying their much-needed
coffee when Anthony Tatton ran past
the entire Blues midfield and defence,
to score an excellent goal, to give Warriors hope of getting something
out of the game.
However, their joy was short-lived as
Jamie Robinson scored Leek's fifth, with another fine finish.
Gareth Allott completed his hat
trick, when a loose ball fell kindly to him, and
he scored his fourth, and Blues'
seventh, with a rare headed goal, after Danny Gruic's shot was only
parried by the keeper.
James Brough
scored the eighth with a brilliant chip, and Jamie
Robinson, also completed his hat trick, with the very last
kick of the game, with a cheeky back heel.
This was a very convincing win by Blues,
and they scored with some excellent finishes. However, all too often,
they were wasteful in front of goal. With several hard games coming
up, this will have to be improved upon. Nevertheless, it was another
three points, and their 44th game without defeat.
