Useless Statistics 1999/2000

League Fixtures Only

Please note, that the following statistics are just supposed to be a bit a fun. In no way whatsoever am I trying to mock any teams that have not fared as well as us.

I fully realise that here at Leek Town we have had a successful season, but without meaning to sound patronising, the real success in Junior Football, is getting teams to turn out every week, (sometimes knowing they are going to lose heavily), due to no small measure to the people behind the scenes who give up their free time week in, week out.

During the course of the season, we have seen vast improvements is some of the teams, which, in my humble opinion, is what it is all about. Improvement on league positions, goals scored, goals conceded, or whatever.

If the boys at ANY team have enjoyed playing, or any of them go on to better things, then it has all been worth while.

This is what Junior Foolball is all about.

Incredibly, there were no 0-0 draws all season!!!!

Lost 7-4 to Flyers

Lost 8-5 to Warriors

Beat Reds 6-4

Lost 9-2 to Newcastle

Cheadle Skill School drew their first match of the season 2-2 with Bombers, then conceded double figures in their next four games. During the rest of the season, they only conceded double figures once more. After their first game, Skill lost the next NINE, before they started to pick up more points.

Milton Rangers

8
One or two high scores, but they don't qualify.

Milton were unbeaten in their first ten matches, and later in the season, they won 8 in a row. They held on to top spot for all but a couple of weeks, until their very last match of the season.

Windmill Warriors
2
2

Beat Alton 10-3

Beat Reds 12-4

Beat Skill 8-5

Beat Flyers 9-2

Warriors blew hot and cold in their games. They had a run of four consecutive victories, but they also lost four in succession. They were involved in one of the two lowest scores of the season when they beat Bombers 1-0.
Brookhouse Bombers
5
0

Lost to Newcastle 11-3

Lost to Flyers 9-3

Bombers were involved in both the lowest scorelines of the season, when they unfortunately lost 1-0 to both Endon and Warriors. They literally lost their way part way through the season as they lost 14 out of their last 15 matches, including the last NINE.
Smithpool Flyers
7
0

Beat Bombers 9-3

Beat Skill 7-4

Lost to Warriors 9-2

Flyers were also involved in one of the 5-5 draws with Alton. They too, had a disasterous run when they lost EIGHT in a row.
Wolstanton Scorers Red
6
1

Lost to Scorers Blue 9-5

Lost to Warriors 12-4

Beat Bombers 6-5

For a team who conceded so many goals (195), to have kept a clean sheet was quite an achievement, (when they beat Flyers 2-0). They were also involved in one of the 5-5 draws with Alton. Having won three matches in the first half of the season, they too, lost their way, as they failed to win any further matches, losing 9 of their last 11 games.

Alton &

Waterhouses

4
0
Alton featured in all three of the 5-5 draws, already mentioned. They also had 12-2, 10-3 and 7-6 defeats against Blues, Warriors and Cheadle Utd, respectively, before they redressed the balance with a 6-4 win over Bombers.

Alton & Waterhouses had a disasterous start to their season, losing their first 8 games. They rallied a little in mid-season, but then lost their way, as they failed to win any of their last 10 matches, although they did pick up three draws in these 10 games. They were the "draw specialists" of the U11's, drawing 5 of their 22 games.

Cheadle United
0
2

Beat Warriors8-2

Beat Alton 7-6

Beat Scorers Red 9-2

Beat Bombers 7-4

Lost 2-8 to Blues

Cheadle Utd were in a with a chance of winning the League, right up to the last few weeks. They only lost once in the first 13 games, (against Blues), but lost a couple in mid season, crucially one was against Blues again. Scored 138 goals but conceded 62, and they will greatly miss marksman Rory Maxwell who is going to Port Vale. We wish him all the best at Vale, and if he returns to Cheadle, let's hope we've already played them, because he always scored against us!!

Wolstanton Scorers Blue
2
5
Beat Scorers Red 9-5

Scorers Blues only lost twice in their first 18 matches, both to Blues. But for these defeats, they would have been in contention for the league. They lost their way badly, at the end, losing three of their last four games. They too, were big scorers - 126.

Newcastle Town
0
3

Lost to Blues 7-3

Beat Bombers 11-3

Beat Scorers Red 10-2

Beat Cheadle Skill 9-2

Newcastle also figured in two other strange scorelines. Firstly, they beat Endon 7-3, and then they in turn, were beaten by Endon, by the same score! Even more amazing than this was the turnaround after they were beaten by Blues. Having been beaten the previous week by Blues 12-0, Newcastle played Scorers Red and beat them 15-0!

Newcastle never really got into their stride, blowing hot and cold. Although they were a capable side, they never won more than 3 in a row, until the last five games, and they won all five.

Endon
3
4

Beat Scorers Red 17-1, but just six games later when the same teams met. the score was only 6-1.

(See Newcastle, above), Endon lost 7-3 to Newcastle, then beat them by the same score. Endon were one of the main title contenders, drawing with Blues and Milton, but then in two incredible successive games, they lost them both 8-0. After an excellent start, they tailed off badly.

Apart from beating Newcastle 12-0, and Cheadle Utd 8-2, Blues didn't have any really unusual scorelines. As stated earlier, high scores do not count, here.

Blues went unbeaten all season. Apart from Milton away, (3-3), they probably deserved the points they got from the other games - including the one against Endon. They had runs of nine and eight successive wins. Twice, they kept four clean sheets in a row. They easily had the best goals for and against - (181-21).
