Programme for 2009

  • The early-summer dig is planned for the last nine days in May - from Saturday 23rd till Sunday 31st. This is for WEAG members only, all of whom are invited. No prior experience is needed but DO NOT JUST TURN UP - let us know the dates you expect to be available and we will send you an information sheet. Please be flexible and cooperative about the things we ask you to do: what we ask will depend on what needs to be done. We do not charge a fee for this dig but all our materials, from wheelbarrows to finds bags, need regular renewal, so a donation is always welcome. For more information, keep checking WEAG News.

  • Our late-summer dig at Copped Hall this year will be in the weeks starting 10th and 17th August and will run from Monday to Friday each week. The first week will be a Training Dig for beginners and will include some formal teaching as well as time spent in the trench. The second week will not be for beginners. It will be a Field School for experienced diggers who already know how to excavate and record their work; weather permitting, the whole week will be spent excavating. The fees for these two weeks include reductions for WEAG members. See the brochure for full details and a booking form. If you know anyone else who is interested, please tell them.

The CHTAP Directors for 2009 are Christina Holloway and Lee Joyce. John Shepherd is Consultant to the Project.

Any other activities will be announced in WEAG News.
