Dryden Street Streetscape Refurbishment Study

"to research and propose a scheme that reveals the character of the street, to develop a theme based on the area's industrial past and express it through street furniture and environmental art, and to design a quality environment for all users."

Exhibition

This exhibition is part of a project conceived, designed, researched and managed by local citizens.

The project aims to research the history of the street, including the surviving original tram lighting poles, and to develop themes based on this research which can inform refurbishment and improvement plans for the streetscape.

The intended outcome of the project is to produce an outline for making Dryden Street a quality environment for existing and new residents and street users, fostering a renewed sense of community and inclusion and to create a model and inspiration for similar projects elsewhere.

The next step, following consultations, will be the formulation of a detailed and fully costed project proposal for full or partial implementation in partnership with all stakeholders.

Consultation

Anyone who feels they can contribute to this project - with information, comments, skills, funds - is invited to contact the DSSRS project manager Harald Tobermann at the address below.

There will also be a public meeting on Wednesday, 14 November, 7pm at Pilrig St Paul's Church Hall where there will be an opportunity for residents and street users to discuss the project and contribute ideas. Further consultation with residents and other stakeholders will take place by post.
