Hibs have appointed Ian Westwater as goalkeeping coach. The player was out of contract at Dunfermline. He will also act as emergency goalkeeper cover.

Hibs under-21's lost 1-0 to Rangers today therefore making Hearts the champions before their last remaining game.

What a difference a letter can make. Turns out that our latest signing managed to assume a T prefix to his name in the Scottish Press which made it very hard to track down his past. The French midfielder we have signed is actually called Hakim Sar and does indeed come from Nantes where he is described as a defender / midfielder, born 2/3/81, height 1.83m and weight 72 Kg. He is a youth team player who has skirted the fringes of their first team squad once or twice.

Alex McLeish has offered a three year deal to nineteen year old French midfielder, Hakim Tsar, who has been training with the club.

Also presently at Easter Road on trial is Danish left back, Ulrik Laursen (right), who currently plays for Odense Boldklub.

Alex McLeish has stated that he wants to bring Lyndon Andrews (right) to Hibs on a one year deal. The Trinidad and Tobago international had trials with Hibs earlier in the season. The deal will depend on work permit regulations.

Goalkeeper, John Campbell, became the latest player to leave the club - he has joined Elgin City.

Hearts resoundingly won the under-21 derby tonight by 4-1 to knock Hibs off the top of the league for the first time this season. Hearts are now 2 points ahead with only one game remaining.

Earl Jean became the latest player to be told he was surplus to requirements and he has already left Easter Road.

Meanwhile, Stevie Crawford resigned for Dunfermline today triggering an additional payment to Hibs.

Club captain, John Hughes, will follow Pat McGinlay out of Easter Road at the end of the season. Also leaving will be Michael Renwick. Both players are out of contract. The process of vetting replacements is well under way - currently on trial is nineteen year old French midfielder, Hakim Tsar, who was formerly with Toulouse.

Hibs lost 2-0 at Motherwell today and slipped back to sixth in the league with another two away games still to play to complete the season.

Hibernian unveiled plans for a football academy at a press conference yesterday - Click here to read the Midlothian Council press release. They also confirmed that building of the new West stand will start this summer. Read more in What the Papers Say.

Meanwhile, Oli Gottskalksson has revealed that he will quit Hibs at the end of the season to sign a three year deal with Brentford. Alex McLeish has confirmed an interest in St. Mirren keeper Ludovic Roy.

Hibs drew 1-1 at Parkhead this afternoon after leading from a Stuart Lovell goal.

Hibs youngster, Tom McManus, scored twice for the Scotland youth team in a tournament in Portugal on Wednesday - unfortunately the Scots went down 4-2 to France. Hibs under-21's beat St.Johnstone 3-0 at Easter Road yesterday to extend their lead at the top of the table - goals from Widera, Kristjansson and Barr. Meanwhile Mark Dempsie is recovering after undergoing an operation at the weekend to correct a recurrent back injury.

Hibs have former St. Ettiene midfielder, Phillipe Cuervo (right) on trial. The player, currently with Swindon Town, is out of contract at the end of the season. Paul Lovering has picked up a suspension and will miss  Hibs games against Aberdeen and Motherwell. Russell Latapy will miss the last three games of the season as he flies off to play a World Cup double header against Haiti.

Hibs drew 3-3 with St.Johnstone at the weekend having been 2-0 ahead. Hibs goals from Latapy, Paatelainen and Lehmann.

Hibernian tonight lost their Scottish Cup semi-final 2-1 to Aberdeen. Latapy put Hibs in the lead before goals for Aberdeen from Stavrum and Dow. Match Report.

Tremendous news for Hibs supporters - Franck Sauzee has signed up for another year. Great timing as well - just ahead of the Cup semi-final.

Meanwhile, the under-21's drew 1-1 away with Motherwell last night - Earl Jean got the Hibs goal.

Hibs defeated Dundee United 1-0 yesterday at Easter Road through a Paul Hartley goal. It emerged afterwards that Hartley had turned down a proposed £150,000 switch to United the day before. More in What the Papers Say.

Hibs recorded their second defeat in a row to teams fighting relegation at the bottom of the table - final score from Rugby Park - Kilmarnock 1 Hibs 0.

Hibernian yesterday signed the Icelandic trialist, whose name turns out to be Thorarinn Kristjansson, until the end of the season.

The under-21's kept up their good form with a 2-0 win over Kilmarnock this week - Kristjansson scored and Huggon got the other.

landrews.jpg (3328 bytes)The under-21's have played two matches this week and both have featured trialists Lyndon Andrews (right) and Toti Bergsson. On Monday they defeated Dundee 3-1, with strikes from Hartley (2) and Huggon, and last night they drew 0-0 with Motherwell.

Yet another Hibs player has gone out on loan, this time Michael Renwick to Partick Thistle.

Meanwhile, Hibs will field two trialists in the under-21 match with Dundee tonight: midfielder Lyndon Andrews - another T&T international, and Toti Bergsson - an Icelandic striker.

The Hibernian under-21's have also defeated Celtic, in an away match yesterday. Goals from Hartley and Jean gave the youngsters a 2-0 victory.

Hibs have loaned out two of their most promising youngsters in moves that mirror that of Kenny Miller with Stenhousemuir last year. Liam O'Sullivan has joined Clydebank and Tom McManus has gone to East Fife.

Meanwhile, Hibs boss Alex McLeish will now have to deal with former Aberdeen manager, Ian Porterfield, over Russell Latapy's international committments. Porterfield is the new head coach of Trinidad and Tobago.

Hibernian tonight defeated Celtic 2-1 at Easter Road through strikes from McGinlay and Miller. Match report.

Russell Latapy will miss the Celtic game on Sunday night as he is flying back to Trinidad to play in a World Cup qualifier against Dutch Antilles. He will not, however, play in the away leg which will allow him to turn out for Hibs in the derby with Hearts on March 18th.

Hibs tonight beat Clydebank 3-0 in their Scottish Cup replay, with goals from Lovell, Lehmann and Sauzee, and will meet Falkirk in the quarter final at Easter Road.

Hibs under-21's beat Aberdeen 2-1 at Easter Road last night, avenging a 4-0 defeat from the young dons a week ago at Pittodrie. Scorers were McIntosh and Bottiglieri.

Clydebank have had their appeal to sign a goalkeeper ahead of tomorrow night's cup tie, rejected by the SFA. Bankies boss, Steve Morrison, is likely to play in goals himself. Ironically, it was a collision with ex-hibee favourite Keith Wright, now playing for Morton, which ruled out Clydebank's normal keeper, Colin Scott.

Trinidad and Tobago lost their Gold Cup semi-final to Canada 1-0 last night. This means Russell Latapy is on his way back to Edinburgh. He will not, however, arrive in time for the Aberdeen game on Saturday. More in What the Papers Say.

Hibs fell to a disappointing 1-0 defeat at St.Johnstone last night. The Saints scored from a dubious penalty award.

Trinidad and Tobago beat Costa Rica 2-1 to earn a place in the semi-final of the Gold Cup against Canada on Thursday. Great news for T&T, not so great for Hibs who are missing influential midfielder, Russell Latapy.

Hibernian have been drawn against Berwick Rangers or Falkirk at home in the next round of the Cup, if they can first get past Clydebank. Full draw is Motherwell or Ayr United v Partick Thistle: Rangers v Hearts: Hibernian or Clydebank v Berwick Rangers or Falkirk: Alloa or Dundee United v Aberdeen or Inverness Caley Thistle.

Hibs fought out a 1-1 draw with Clydebank in the Scottish Cup today.
Paul Hartley equalised for Hibs after the visitors had taken the lead. Hibs played with ten men for the last 55 minutes after Tom Smith was red carded. The replay will be on Tuesday 29th February.

Hibs have a 19 year old left sided central defender on trial from Manchester City. He is Northern Ireland born Shaun Holmes. Hibs have not had a naturally left footed player in this position since the departure of Alex Marinkov.

Meanwhile, it looks increasingly unlikely that there will be an early return for Russell Latapy (pictured right with international team-mates Dwight Yorke and Shaka Hislop). He scored for Trinidad and Tobago in a 4-2 win over Guatemala and T&T now look certain of a place in the next stage of the Gold Cup.

Today's St. Johnstone v Hibernian match was abandoned at half-time due to heavy snow with the score standing at 0-0.

Alex McLeish's pursuit of Martin McIntosh finally paid off today with the central defender (pictured in the 2 Feb item below) signing for Hibs for somewhere in the region of £300,000.

Hibernian have given a contract until the end of the season to Trinidad and Tobago international striker, Earl Jean, after he impressed boss Alex McLeish in training with the club during the last week.

Hibernian ran champions elect, Rangers, very close tonight. The game ended 2-2 after Hibs were twice ahead through strikes from Kenny Miller.

Hibernian today unveiled the new club badge (pictured opposite) following the competition in which fans sent in their designs for consideration. This is the fourth badge the team have had since their formation in 1875. The club have covered all the angles by including every element any fan could possibly want. Pictorially we have the football, the castle for Edinburgh, the ship for Leith and the Harp which links this latest incarnation of the badge with the club's roots. In addition to this we have in words Hibernian - off course, 1875 and Edinburgh - which is important as the city is a great name to be associated with.

Stevie Crawford's transfer to Dunfermline has finally been completed. The player has followed a very similar path to Barry Lavety with a permanent move after a successful loan period. Furthermore, the deal is very similar, with Hibs receiving a fee now and a further fee should Crawford resign for the Pars at the end of this season.

Stockport County defender, Martin McIntosh (pictured right), is in Edinburgh for signing talks with Hibernian - the two clubs are said to have agreed a fee. McIntosh previously played for Hamilton Academicals and is keen on a return to Scotland after his family failed to settle in England.

Hibernian's tour ended yesterday with a 2-0 victory over a Trinidad and Tobago President's XI - Lehmann and Latapy got the goals. This followed a 4-1 reversal against a T&T Professional League XI earlier in the week.

Hibernian beat a Tobago select 2-1 yesterday in a friendly with goals from Latapy and Paatelainen, despite playing with ten men for most of the game - Dirk Lehmann was red-carded after just 20 minutes.
