St. Etienne left back, Patrick Guillou, finally arrived at Easter Road today for a trial
period. Meanwhile another Frenchman, Christophe Cocard, who was linked with Hibs a while
back, will probably start tonight's league cup match for Kilmarnock, and will wear a face
mask to protect a broken nose picked up in a training accident.

Hibernian have apparently decided to replace the club badge - a competition is being run
on the official Hibs website to design the new badge with a prize of a 2000/2001 season
ticket. So goodbye to the Star Trek logo as we boldly go into the new millenium.

The under-21's got back on the winning trail last night, beating Aberdeen 3-0 at Easter
Road with goals from Huggon and Miller (2).

Hibs picked up their first point in five matches with a 2-2 draw at Aberdeen, equalising
twice in the last seven minutes through Paatelainen and Jack.

Hibs chairman, Malcolm McPherson, confirmed at the agm last night that the main stand will
be replaced at the end of this season with a new two-tier structure in keeping with the
other new stands. No clues were given as to where the funding was coming from. The fans
are to be invited to suggest names for this new main stand. Also, as part of this work,
the famous Easter Road slope will be disappearing, as the pitch will be levelled.

Samassi Abou is the latest player to arrive for a trial period with Hibs. The Ivory Coast
striker, currently out of favour at West Ham, arrived yesterday and will spend a week at
Easter Road. The player has a year of his contract to go and West Ham are likely to try
and recoup the £300,000 they paid French club, Cannes, for the player in 1997.

Hibs have said they will listen to offers for Stevie Crawford who is out of contract at

The search for new talent continues. Hibs currently have Venezuelan striker, Fernando Di
Ornelas, training with them. The 22 year old played as an overage player in the under-21's
game on Monday night.

The under-21's continued to provide some good news for Hibs supporters with their fourth
straight win last night - a 1-0 victory over Dundee United.

Helmut Gabriel, the German trialist, has not been offered a contract and has left Easter
Road.

Alex Marinkov has left Hibs and quit football altogether. He has decided to return to
France and work in the family business. Hibs agreed to release him from his contract and
he has left on amicable terms.

night against a Rangers team fielding Scottish Internationals Colin Henry, Charlie Miller
and Ian Ferguson. Hibs scorers were Kenny Miller, Tom McManus and Scott Bannerman.

Alex McLeish was rushed to hospital last night where he underwent an operation to remove
his appendix. The Hibs manager was said to be recovering well today and may attend the
match with Rangers on Saturday.

Oli Gottskalksson has finally won a recall to the Icelandic National Team after two years
of being overlooked. This follows a series of fine performances as the Hibs No.1. He has
been listed in the squad for the European Championship matches against Andorra and the
Ukraine.

The under-21 side recorded their second victory on the trot, following up their win over
Hearts, with a 2-1 result against St. Johnstone at Easter Road last night. Russel Huggon
from the penalty spot and John Hughes were Hibs scorers.

to have cost around £400,000.

Hibs scraped through their CIS Insurance League Cup fixture with Clyde last night, winning
5-4 on penalties after the match finished 2-2 after extra time. All the goals were scored
in the first half with McGinlay and Hartley netting for Hibs. As expected Alex McLeish
gave several fringe players a run with Hibs lining up Colgan, Smith, Hughes, Marinkov,
Lovering, Hartley, Skinner, McGinlay, Lovell, Crawford, Lehmann.

Hibs beat Hearts 1-0 in the under-21 fixture played last night. Scott Bannerman was the
scorer with an early strike.

Goalkeeper Nick Colgan will start the game against Clyde this evening as Alex McLeish
gives some fringe players the opportunity to gain competitive match practice. Other
players who may get a run include Yogi Hughes, Alex Marinkov, Stevie Crawford, Stuart
Lovell and Tom Smith who have all struggled to make the first team squad recently. Two
players who definitely won't play are Frank Sauzee, who is injured, and Mixu Paatelainen
who is with the Finland team playing Belgium. The match with Clyde is in the League Cup,
which apparently this year is called the CIS Insurance Cup.

The first Hibs - Hearts derby of the season finished one all. Russell Latapy opened the
scoring for Hibs from the penalty spot just before half time. Gary McSwegan equalised for
the visitors with ten minutes of the match remaining. Match

Fantastic news for Hibs on the eve of the derby game. Russell Latapy has signed a new deal
which extends his stay at Easter Road by one year, to the end of next season - summer
2001.

Kenny Miller was the saviour for Hibs tonight, hooking in a last minute winner to give
Alex McLeish's men a 4-3 victory over Dundee after a quite extraordinary second half. Read

Alex McLeish has a problem ahead of the Dundee game but he won't be complaining. He has to
decide who to leave out of the starting line-up. Fabrice Henry has recovered from a knock
he received in the Motherwell game, where he was taken off as a precaution. Pat McGinlay
is also fit again after missing the Motherwell game and with Mixu Paatelainen returning
from suspension, McLeish has almost the entire squad to choose from. Only John Hughes is
unavailable for this match - he is still on the treatment table.

Harper to Hearts as part of a package for Paul Ritchie.
