- Died: 9th June 1874

The locations from the data look fairly close and on searching a map the only Applegarth I could find was just north of Lockerbie. To give an idea of scale on the map show below Lockerbie and Ecclefechan are about 6 miles apart. Middlebie and Ecclefechan can be seen in the bottom right hand corner of the map.
If the Janes are the same person she would have been about 30 when she married John. The locations are very similar and Rithet must be a relatively rare name. The marriage date matches precisely that which I was given by another source, who I think is unlikely to have used LDS facilities and was given to me about 10 years ago. The middlename of Paterson in both cases, which was the mothers maiden name, I think makes it a definite link.
