After the death of her husband Mary obviously found it difficult to survive, as her burial entry stated that 'she had been kept by the parish many years, and at last was buried by the parish'. She died 10 years after her husband, on 19 January 1795, at Branscombe, and was buried six days later in the village churchyard. Although her burial entry states her to have been 85 years old at this time, she was more likely to have been 82 or 83, if that is, she had been baptised as an infant.
