Da’Methra : High Priest of Dysantra whom the company of seven take hostage.

Dark Wanderer : see Cahrn Alvesüene.

Dar-te-Shang : A member of the Grim Reapers. An old man from somewhere to the far north, a drifter who for years had sold his sword to any who would pay a good price, he was half a head shorter than any of the other Grim Reapers. He made up for the lack of height in speed, agility and the cruellest vein that any of the others had ever seen. Shang liked nothing more than walking the field after a battle torturing fallen enemies. It was, he claimed, his right as victor. He was unliked, but respected, and considered by nearly all as the best of the Reapers.

Di-Zan-Chra : Reptilian folk who took Dysantra from the Dotchra-Kyth.

Dohzan Paydor : Leader of the Grim Reapers and self proclaimed captain. He is a red-haired, fiery-tempered man in his late forties and a seasoned veteran of many campaigns. He has led the Grim Reapers since they were founded and now realises that with only thirty men in the company and no major wars he is unlikely to keep them together for much longer. In 1404, while escaping from the Kar Tormians, he leads them into the Mishak mountains and comes into contact with evil deities that have slept there since the dawn of time. The possessed shell of Paydor is instrumental in starting the Lancasian war which devastates the cities of Thanys, Evadia and Kar Torma and leads to the defeat of Lanca at the battle of Zanadoon.

Dorgon Reed : Member of the Company of Seven. Archer in the Clos Reyniere army but once served in the king of Syrakia’s army as a frontier scout. Reed has a natural affinity for languages. Standing five feet nine inches tall he has a wiry figure, fast reflexes, and a long, thin, almost sad face with a chin that’s tipped with a small, closely cropped beard. He has long dark hair and a fair, lightly tanned skin. A loner, he joined the Clos Reyniere scouts around ten years ago.

Dorn Plat : A middle aged man who worked his way up through the ranks until he had been received into the Braz-Dura at the age of thirty six

Doswold Gryms : Stable owner in Maygda

Dotchra-Kyth : People overrun by the invading Di-Zan-Chra.

Draag : One of Oru’s three generals and responsible for the Ung Plith and Ghrau infantry regiments. Draag is young and inexperienced having taken over from Erkanath in the fall of 1401. He is Kafaa’s cousin and the family resemblance is easy to spot as the men could almost be brothers. Like Kafaa, Draag is short, a mere five feet four tall, has bright black eyes set beneath eyelids that slant upwards at the edges, a sallow skin, and long black hair held in a plait at the rear with a silver clasp. Unlike Kafaa, though, he wears the military uniform as opposed to the traditional garments of a Ghrau and is considerably less cultured.

Dragna Grorr : Lieutenant in the Tynasian army assigned to the Free Region Fort. He was a stiff disciplinarian popinjay with long curly hair and a thick moustache. Immaculately turned out at all times he could be seen as effeminate by those that do not know him. Given responsibility for the building of the redoubt in front of the administration block and for holding the Lancasians final assault. He was awarded the Tynasian Cross of Honour following the defence of the Free Region Fort.

Dyth : A member of the Grim Reapers who is described by Feldon thus: "Dyth was a good friend to me for many a year… If he had a grudge he’d out and say like he did after the battle of Dyra Fields when the Captain wanted to sack the village. "No gain," says Dyth, "I kills soldiers but not innocents like. Goes against the Reaper creed." And the Captain, he had to agree and we rode on." Dyth is one of the first to disappear after the Grim Reapers arrive at the Black Keep. Despite a life on the road Dyth liked home comforts, especially hating being cold.

Elinia : Elinia spent her early years in servitude in the house of the merchant Cerias Tumorn. After being kidnapped by Bathmar to be used as a sacrifice in the ceremony to turn the Crystal of Mamanoth and subsequently being rescued by Cahrn, Tass and Synak, she falls in love with the small thief and never returns to Tumorn’s house. She is short, only around five feet two tall, plain but not unattractive and has a slight build. Her mousy coloured hair is normally worn in a shoulder length bob cut and she favours simple clothes over finery. Later she bares Synak a child - a son.

Erkanath : A retired general and onetime leader of the Ghrau/Ung Plith infantry regiments. Now in his eighties he is a tired and hermit like figure keeping himself very much to himself. He is however, one of the few men in Tivu who can remember conflict and was the last general to actively serve in an army at war.

Farnder Craw : A smooth looking black-skinned ex-knight from the Cangorian city of Jerebo. His face was half scar tissue, gained when he’d fallen into a hut he was burning. It exposed his teeth on one side and forced the man to dribble all the time. He spoke with a sucking lisp to his voice caused by the fact that half his tongue was also missing. Because of this Craw seldom said anything and usually sat in brooding, resentful silence.

Fort Despair : see Free Region Fort

Free Region Fort : Known by the men who served in it as Fort Despair because of the lack of towns nearby, the Free Region Fort was established by Tynash in 1403 following the atrocities committed by the Lancasians under Kara’s command during her search for Tass Harmon. It comprised a regular garrison of two hundred and fifty men but this was doubled to five hundred when Lanca began to threaten the area again. For all its active life the fort was under the command of Major Bren Garno and its moment of glory came when it held out against the invading Lancasians in 1404. Following this action it was abandoned as the threat from Lanca had disappeared and it served no further purpose. The fort was constructed of white stone with a wooden palisade running around the top to protect the defenders inside. It had six open towers each with a small field catapult inside. These were positioned one on each corner and one each side of the only gate. Accommodation inside the fort was spartan with simple, solid buildings under pan-tile roofs. There was an administrative building, mess block, small hospital, a barracks and stables.

Free Regions : Following the collapse of the Tynasian Empire in 1300 the rich farmlands south-west of the city requested and were granted their independence. The loose association of small farming communities and prosperous market towns became known as the Free Regions.
