Jeremia Fox : A small, weasel of a man and a friend of Tyranius Boll.

Jeroth : Tucked away in an isolated valley the city of Jeroth is also known as the City of Jewels. Originally this name was an ironic nickname for a sprawling miner’s shanty town. The city underwent a metamorphosis, however, in 1094 when a major seam of high quality gemstones were discovered. Over the next thirty years wealth poured in which was transformed Jeroth into a small but stunningly elegant city. Up until that time Jeroth had been something at odds with the surrounding lands but with wealth came stability and the town lost its wild, untamed reputation. The three founding fathers (an entrepreneurial and intelligent minor and two traders who had seized upon an opportunity and bought out most of the other minors) extended the hand of friendship to the Tivu - the Peoples of the Plains whose lands lay to the south-east. Thus was born a lasting alliance between Jeroth and Tivu, enhancing the power and wealth of the latter and the safety of the former.

Ju-Jerry : Fruit of the Keresh region

Ka’Deltha : High Priest of the Temple of Light and servant of the Di-Zan-Chra.

Kafaa : lord of Ghrau. Kafaa is a man in his mid twenties, strong willed but cunning and fiercely defensive of his people who he still sees as an independent nation. For all his nationalistic tendencies however, Kafaa willingly supports Zekumar and acknowledges him as the rightful ruler of the Tivu. Like most natives of Ghrau, Kafaa is short, a mere five feet five tall, has bright black eyes set beneath eyelids that slant upwards at the edges, a sallow skin, and long black hair held in a plait at the rear with a silver clasp. He wears the traditional dress of the Ghrau tribesmen, black woollen breeches, knee length leather boots, a silk undershirt beneath a leather jerkin and a long riding cape slung back off his shoulders.

Kara : The High Priestess of Lanca. Raised from birth as the High Priestess of their religion Kara has known no other world than that of Lanca. The cruel and fanatical nature of Orra’s faith is therefore normal to her and yet she still falls in love with Tass Harmon when he breaks into the temple looking for gold. She has a child by Tass but unfortunately it is a son and he is passed into the religious order to be raised as a priest. He is almost certainly killed when Lanca is destroyed in 1403. After meeting Tass, Kara changes. His escape from the temple once Kara’s pregnancy is confirmed is partly due to her assistance. In order to satisfy the demands of her religion Kara travels to Tynash to seek and kill Tass but when they meet she fakes his death and gives him his life. On returning to Lanca she tries to make changes but is thwarted and ultimately deposed by her own priests. After being imprisoned she is rescued by Belin dol-comith Arg and later taken to Tynash by Gron Zuq. Her intercession is a turning point in the Battle of Zanadoon and later she fights and kills both Talia and Orra. Kara has dark, shoulder-length hair, a long face with slender cheekbones delicately set at a slight angle. Her eyebrows are dark and arch upwards. She has large brown eyes and small ears. Her body is slim and athletic, and her breasts are small but perfectly formed.

Kel-Rak-Tok : Seer of Eternal Truth, ruler of the Di-Zan-Chra, prisoner of the Eye of Humos

Khal Tivuri : The capital of the Tivu empire and hereditary seat of the Tivu kings. Khal Tivuri was founded in the year 688 when the people of the northern plains of Zo’oth settled in the sheltered valleys that nestled between two sweeping arms of the Mountains of Zo’oth. By the year 700 a small but beautiful city had been erected which has remained intact despite several periods of expansion. Now the original city forms the central nexus of the empire, a walled city within a walled city, and houses the administration and palatial buildings. The city benefits from being close to the highest navigable point on the River Fa and is thus linked to the coast and to the distant principality of Percu on the Fa delta. Trade was strengthened when Tivu allied themselves with the Fisherfolk of Fa in 836 and since then the two nations have merged into a hybrid whole each taking the better parts of the other to enhance themselves. In the 1135 the city of Jeroth asked to join the Tivu empire and was welcomed and later in the same year a Tivu delegation met with trade envoys from the Tynasian Empire and agreed to help extend the Great North Road from its terminus in Krothé across the Plains of Zo’oth to Khal Tivuri. To the north-west of the Tivu empire lay the lands of Ung Plith and the city state of Ghrau. By 1287, after over two centuries of raids along the Great North Road, King Maku marched and defeated the Ghrau outside their city. The ensuing peace treaty brought the Ghrau under Tivu rule. War continued in the region however until 1304 when Maku’s forces finally defeated the tribemen of Ung Plith and thereby secured a lasting peace in the region.

King Arntral : King of Clos Reyniere. He had a long, sanguine face with sad, limpet eyes of the clearest blue, and large puffy lips. His body, although tall, was thin and emaciated with hardly any flesh on the slight skeleton and yet he commanded authority and instantly became the centre of any room he entered

Knife : A member of the Grim Reapers who meets a sticky end in the Black Keep.

Kordor : One of the first of the Grim Reapers to disappear.

Korman Cross : Lieutenant in the Tynasian army assigned to the Free Region Fort. He joined the Tynasian army at the age of fifteen and through hard work and sheer determination rose to the rank of lieutenant at the age of twenty-five. The first person to encounter and fight the Lancasians he was able to warn the fort of their approach. He was also given the task of fortifying the main administration building for a final stand once the Lancasians breached the fort’s walls. He was awarded the Tynasian Cross of Honour following the defence of the Free Region Fort. In later years he made the rank of captain before retiring at the age of fifty.

Krath Meanor : Clos Reyniere book of eternity.

Kraz : Mingon-Kar commander responsible for assessing Zuq’s weapons

Krumari Hills : A region of rolling downland between Kathra and Clos Reyniere. It stretches north to the borders with Urgat Barr, and south almost as far as Syrakia. A wild, desolate region that is largely uninhabited except for the odd coaching inn along the main Clos Reyniere-Kathra road. It had once been home to the warlike Migran tribe whose descendants had settled down and founded the city of Kathra.

Laart : Gron Zuq’s servant. Laart is of a similar age to Zuq but looks older due to a balding patch on the top of his head and a slight stoop that had been caused when his damaged left hip had not been allowed to heal properly. Laart had been a slave of a Tynasian merchant named Grolth and it had been while Laart was attempting to break in a horse for his master that the accident had occurred. The injury was in no way life threatening but it caused Laart a lot of pain especially in colder climates and as the years passed became gradually worse. Having no use for him Grolth had thrown Laart out onto the streets where he had been found by Löfar’s men. They had attempted to train him but when it became obvious that he would be a liability to them they too cast him out. Zuq caught the starving twenty year old skeleton of a man when he had broken into his house. He had offered him employment. They now work together as a team with Laart being Zuq’s eyes and ears on the streets of the cities and towns they visit. Never tall, Laart was little more than five feet high with the stoop, foul-mouthed and always complaining. He had little regard for personal hygiene, preferring to going dirty than having a bath.

Lady Isobella : A tall, beautiful woman with wispy golden hair that cascaded in a wave of curls down past her shoulder blades, wide, startled eyes the colour of a summer sky, and the tiniest little pout of a mouth.  Tass lets her join his party during the trip to Kathra.  He is soon romantically involved.

Lake Tumari : A small lake nestling in a narrow valley that splits the plains of Clos Reyniere.

Lord Vetangra : A tall, rakish figure with black, piercing eyes and short, lanky hair that is now tinged with grey. He has a hook-like chin covered in a short, greying beard, and thin, spiteful lips. His hands are broad with long fingers tipped with long, well manicured nails.
