The Trover Trilogy began life as a desire to write a murder mystery. I love reading the historical side of the genre such as Cadfael, Owen Archer, Falco et al, but hadnever found a plotline that worked for me. While talking it over with a friend his reaction was, "Well let's do it!" Valcothian Red was therefore begun. It was then a written by eMAIL work. We would come up with the next bit of the plot by exchanging mails and then I would put my fingers to work on the keyboard. In it's original form it was sent to a publisher who not very politely told me what they thought of it. On re-reading the original I could sympathise with some of the comments but still get a bitter taste in my mouth at the language used.
The new version is an extensive reworking of the first. Much of what was originally Part One was removed and used as a basis for Shadow of the Black Keep. Whole new sections were added and it became more in line with my normal work. Those who have read this latest version have been most complementary in their praise.
For Trover my friend and I created two new characters, Gron Zuq and Laart. I so fell in lover with them that we also find them cropping up and playing a major role in both High Priestess of Lanca and Shadow of the Black Keep.
Ice Mages of Ikrar is my latest novel to be set in the Tynasian world. It was completed towards the end of 1998 and has yet to be edited.
The Quest for Jerod Po is complete in note form but the muse has not yet caught me to begin work on it.
