Stoke UTA Taekwondo is a member of the United Taekwondo Association headed by Vice Chairman Master T W Shin 8th Dan Korea one of the Highest graded Korean Masters in Great Britain , Master Shin is one of the most respected Korean Taekwondo Masters in this country and has trained most of the top Taekwondo players, Instructors in this country. His Instructor is grand Master Kim Soon Bae, 9th Dan. Stoke UTA is a member of the the BTCB, the governing body for WTF Olympic Taekwondo in this country.

Stoke UTA has been formed for over fifteen years in the Staffordshire area and covers a wide area Including Crewe, Alsager, Burslem, Fenton and Stoke Centre with over two hundred students in the area.

The Area Instructor is Master Peter Johnson, 5th Dan, who is the current Vice Chairman of the UTA and has been training in Taekwondo for twenty five years. Master Johnson took his 5th Dan grade in Korea and has competed at various levels In Taekwondo and other martial arts. He holds the UTA Class A Certificate and the MACS full coach Award, he also holds a Diploma in Sports Science and coaching and has refereed in many national and International events. Stoke UTA has an impressive record of Successful Dan grade students and Instructors producing both male, female and junior blackbelts.

SAFETY IN TAEKWONDO
To ensure the safety and well being of all our students is the main priority of Stoke UTA and its instructors. By applying the training hall rules and regulations and correct syllabus for training. Ensuring proper screening of new applicants and the issue of medical declaration forms to new members. That all Instructors and assistant Instructors have attended offical Instructor courses /Coaching courses, recognized first aid qualification, Child Protection and Sports council coaching courses.

TEACHING OF CHILDREN
Stoke UTA is committed to the promotion of taekwondo in schools, collages and other educational establishments with clubs located in schools and universities. The promotion and encouragement for children and juniors to take up a character building sport such as Taekwondo. To help with health and growth in the early years and education and discipline towards attaining goals in upgrading and competition. To strengthen character and educational development. Also to keep the fun element in training within a safe environment. Stoke UTA running the little ninjas program alongside the grading Syllabus to introduce fun into the training.

BENEFITS TO ADULTS.
Adults will benefit in numerous ways by training in this dynamic and interesting Martial Art. In fitness progression, suppleness, stamina, self defense, self confidenc, increased awareness, aerobic fitness, educational development and stimulation through vigorous exercise tailored to the individuals needs. Each student progresses at his or own rate and fitness is increased gradually. No pressure is put on anyone to upgrade or compete. Taekwondo can be learned for a hobby, pastime and also serious Olympic Sport.

WHAT WILL I LEARN?
The Taekwondo syllabus is structured in such a way as to progress the student at a steady pace. To introduce new students to techniques and practices in line with the WTF grading syllabus .A new student will be introduced to the art in a three week introductory course covering training hall rules, etiquette ,and formalities of the taekwondo training hall with basic terminology and Korean Taekwondo history. Essential warming up and flexibility exercises will be introduced to increase suppleness and reduce the chance of injury whilst training. Basic techniques will be demonstrated and the method of tying the belt and Uniform shown.

STOKE UTA OBJECTIVES.
1) To ensure all people in the Staffordshire and Cheshire area have the opportunity to participate in WTF Taekwondo.
2) To ensure there are clear pathways for members to improve their standard of performance.
3) To ensure that our members have the opportunity to take part in formal competition
4) To ensure there are strong links between local schools collages and council facilities.
5) To ensure all Coaches /Students/Volunteers have the opportunity to develop their skills and knowledge.
6) To actively recruit new members and volunteers and coaches to help develop and ensure the sustainability of the club.
7) To improve membership / and participation for people with disabilities, women, and girls and for ethnic minorities.
8) To develop partnerships in order to access more funding for the club.

STOKE UTA COURSES
Many courses are open to both Stoke UTA students and instructors. Stoke UTA holds local Instructors Courses every year, at a local venue consisting of Power Point presentations, discussions and practical work lasting a whole day.

Referee courses are held every year, conducted by Master Shin 8th Dan, consisting of the latest WTF rulings and regulations .First aid courses are organized locally on a two yearly basis - all students are allowed to attend.

Squad training sessions are held every week at the Stoke Club and Elite sessions are held at master shins Do-Jang in Manchester. Regular Poomse and technical training sessions are held locally and nationally, conducted by master T W Shin and master D Bailey.

Sports Council Coaching courses are available , consisting of Child Protection, safety and ethnic and diversity courses.

STOKE UTA SPORT TAEKWONDO
Stoke UTA and the Staffordshire Cheshire UTA clubs have been consistently successful at producing winners at all levels in both competition sparring and Poomse (forms ) sections. Stoke UTA travels virtually every month to competitions both national and international level

Stoke UTA Have special training times and days for Sport taekwondo, Saturday squad training and special squad trainings at Master Shins Academy in Manchester. Also access to the BTCB national Squad training centers.

Squad trainings are also undertaken at the Milton Keynes UTA Taekwondo centers.

Stoke UTA have had players competing in the Belgian Open Taekwondo Championships, Portuguese Open Taekwondo Championships, Junior Olympics in America, London International Taekwondo Championships, Scottish Open Taekwondo Championships, Central Cup, Shins Open Taekwondo Championships, The BTCB British Cup, Milton Keynes Open Championships, The Dome in Doncaster, Cathy Walkers Open Championships Doncaster, Stoke Open and many inter club and one to one competitions. Teams have all come way with medals and trophys from these competitions.

Stoke UTA has a fully equipped Do-jang with mats, body protectors, training aids and targets. Coach Master Peter Johnson has competed and refereed in WTF competitions and organized many WTF tournaments in the Midlands area.
