Curborough 13th May 2001 - Single Lap 900Yds

After many false starts this year we were finally out for the FIRST TIME in 2001. The weather was just lovely. The car looked 100% and the winter mods., were in place. So off we went....

Curborough 13.05.2001 Dry Sunny Light Breeze 20 Deg C
Fenella Roger
1-64ft Time 1-64ft Time
Practice 1 3.02 47.55 2.69 37.31
Practice 2 2.99 54.09 2.72 36.90
Run 1 2.85 45.57 2.71 37.05
Run 2 2.91 44.14 2.72 36.83

A really good shakedown day for the car and the drivers! Interestingly the best time of 36.83 is within 3 hundredths of a second of the best time set at the same circuit on the same weekend last year - the difference is that by this time last year we had already been out in the car several times whereas this year it is the the first outing! This bodes well. The modifications to gearing and as importantly suspension have resulted in a much more competitive car that is far easier to drive on the limit going from understeer to four wheel drift to oversteer nice an progressively. For the first time I can say that the car would be fun to drive in the wet! Before it snapped so quickly from understeer to oversteer is was difficult to control in the dry let alone the wet!

We seemed to learn a couple of things again today;

FEN: A bit more aggression knocks loads off your time.

ROG: Having a break of six months from a circuit I have driven a lot has really helped with a 'fresh approach' paying dividends already.

Return me to the paddock PLEASE!
