I read Fine Art at Edinburgh University, specialising in stained glass studies. As a result, I gained a great deal of historical background as well as extensive knowledge of church symbolism, colour theory and an appreciation of appropriateness of space -  essential for the stained glass artist. I also made a special study of 20th century Scottish stained glass, developing a love which remains with me.

After my training in Kent I moved to Salisbury where I was part of the Cathedral's glazing team, repairing and restoring old windows, and designing and making new ones.

Unique windows for every situation

On leaving Edinburgh, I trained in the studio of Lawrence Lee in Kent. There I learned about all aspects of making stained glass windows from meeting clients and designing windows for their particular requirements, through making the complete window, to installation -  gaining  experience of life in a busy prestigious  studio.

Since leaving Salisbury, I have worked on a variety of my own work, designing, making and installing windows in churches, pubs, private homes and public buildings.

As well as making stained glass, I have been teaching, lecturing, researching and writing about the subject for over 20 years.
