I'm a Church of Scotland recommended artist, and have designed and made windows for both Scottish and English churches - both in lead and in the more modern appliqué, such as the two windows in these close-ups. |

St Andrews Psalterlane, Sheffield. "New Creation" window 2003. For this commission, the brief stated that the initial impact of the window should be one of a blaze of glory coming out of the darkness; a representation of the bringing of light. |

Embellishment with silver stain and etching with acid make the already rich colours of mouth-blown glass sumptuous. |

Working for a church inevitably means a different approach, frequently incorporating several people's ideas, thoughts and beliefs. Reaching a design that satisfies everyone can be an exciting and stimulating process. |

The surrounding tracery contains galaxies, using images taken from the Hubble space telescope, thus both using modern science in the praise of God and showing the great wonders beyond our immediate world. At the centre of the tracery is a saltire cross, the cross of St Andrew. In the bottom half of the window are representations of salt (industry and scientific enquiry); light (civilisation and enlightenment); yeast (the home) and seed (agriculture). Throughout the window, 21st century technology is used with mediæval craft techniques, producing a temporal yet timeless work. |

Current work includes windows for the church of Dalry St Margaret's and St John's, Chesterfield. Check back here for progress reports! |
