A good hard fought game today that saw the Primrose up for it after the disappointment of last week.

With Sykes out for todays game Neil McLeod was paired up front with Gary Osborne and they caused a lot of trouble for the Newburgh defence which was breeched towards the end of the first half when McLeods run down the left forced the defence to commit themselves and he then passed an inch perfect pass over to Osborne who made no mistake with his shot. Newburgh were pretty much encamped in their half for most of the first period but the Primrose were unable to put any more chances away.

The second half had just started and a quick break down the right by Newburgh caught the Primrose out and Johnson was able to make it through the defence to get on the end of a low cross and score the equaliser. This stirred the Newburgh team up and they put Primrose under pressure for a good ten minutes. They had one cross ball that was met on the volley at the corner of the box that thankfully shot past the Primrose goal.

Primrose started to make in roads after this spell and McLeod had a header saved off the line and Newburgh breathed a sigh of relief when the keeper made a complete hash of a pass back that saw it go out for a corner. This was dealt with by Newburgh but a few minutes later Gary Osborne was able to force the ball over the line when the keeper failed to hold a ball that was whipped in from another corner.

Primrose continued to press and a cheeky shot by Foster from an free kick was saved on the line by Whyte in the Newburgh goal.

With seconds to go Newburgh were awarded a free kick that was headed in by Milne for a last gasp equaliser. How last gap? Well as soon as the Primrose restarted the game the ref blew for full time. Another sucker punch for the Primrose.

Teams.

Primrose:
Smith, Hobbs, Lakie, McLeod, Laing, Ash, Foster, Deans, Osborne, Patrick, Westgarth
Subs: Millar, Wilcox, McQue

Newburgh:
White, Adair, Black, Milne, Soutar, Davidson, R. McQueen, Campbell, Walker, Johnson, Sibanda
Subs: Forsyth, Oliver, J. McQueen, Muir

Ref: Mr. White * Not sure he was at the same game as I was. Missed handballs, gave poor offside decisions and when a player is stuck at the corner flag with the ball and an opponent kicking his heels I fail to see where he can gain an advantage situation.

Man of the match: Tough choice between front men Gary Osborne and Neil McLeod but the goalscorer just edged it. Well done boys.
