This was the fourth time this season that the Primrose has squared up to Rosyth and
if the previous games were anything to go with then this was going to be a close,
hard game and indeed it turned out to be so. Primrose went with the wind in the first half and this was considerable, one of the advertisong hoardings blew off its mounts and the rest were taken in for safety. The choice to go with the wind was good as Primrose were easily the better team in the first half and they had Rosyth on the ropes from early on. Primrose took a shoot on site policy, which was a refreshing change and Millar, Deans and Hobbs all came close. Rosyth had one clear cut chance but it was headed over the bar. The second half started in a rain squal but the guys got on well with the game. Rosyth never made the same progress with the wind as the Primrose had in the first half and this frustration boiled over into the game. Ross Millar picked up a bad tackle, that saw Logan booked, and Millar was forced to be substituted a few minutes later by Westgarth. Rosyth had a few chances and Colin Rushford pulled off two excellent saves, Primrose also carved out a few good chances but failed at the final hurdle to stick the ball in the net. In the closing few minutes of the game Ferguson was sent off for raising his hands in an off the ball incident with Neil McLeod, that also saw McNeely booked for protesting too much. In almost the last play of the game Scott Logan scored from a Rosyth corner to give the Rec a thoroughly undeserved victory. After the game there was more action on the way back to the dressing rooms with Primrose Assistant manager, Charlie Kelly and Committee member Brian Parker both being struck by a Rosyth player. Hopefully the referee witnessed this and will take appropriate action. Other players booked during the match were McLeod for Primrose and Ross, Gratton and Stenhouse for Rosyth. Teams. Primrose: Rushford, Hobbs, McBride, Millar, Joskowiak, McLeod, Laing, Ash, Deans, Osborne, Patrick. Subs: Westgarth, Trialist (Sykes), McQue, Foster, Sharp Rosyth: McNeely, Ross, Smart, McMahon, ratton, Sawers, Logan, Ferguson, Lawson, Tanner, Vaughan, Stenhouse, Leighton Ref: Mike Gill **** Mr. Gill had good game today and Rosyth were lucky in the end that he kept a level head or they could easily have been down to less than 10. Man of the match: Neil McLeod, worked so hard he wore his boots out!! Rosyth Point of view: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/scottish-juniors/message/20065 |
