A bit of history was made today when Ballingry Rovers played their first game in Junior Football. The occasion being today's Fife League Cup match against Crossgates Primrose who presented them with a pennant prior to the game.

Also today saw the first outing of the new Primrose strip and our thanks go to our sponsor The Crystal Bar.

The game started at full pelt with both teams trying to find their game and it was Ballingry who got the ball in the net after 11 minutes, however it was chalked off for offside.

On sixteen minutes Graeme "Dixie" DEANS made a telling run down, or should I say up (hilly pitch!) the right and fired in a cross that would actually have gone in if CURRAN in the Ballingry goal hadn't put it over the bar.

After this the Primrose started to take control and new boy Scott ROSS  started to take the defence apart with his pace and he had two good efforts. On 37 minutes McLEOD had an overhead kick from a DEANS cross scrape past the post.

Unfortunately for the Primrose almost on the stroke of half time ROSS got injured and had to be stretchered off.

The second half was much of the same until SYKES, who'd come on for ROSS rose to meet a MORRIS free kick and head home 15 minutes from time. A few minutes later and he should have made it two but CURRAN pulled off a brilliant double save.

Five minutes from time and OSBORNE was brought down in the box but CURRAN saved his penalty. Right on the death OSBORNE was again brought down in the area but the ref decided that enough was enough and blew for time.
