This game was the 5th game against Rosyth this year. Each of the previous four had
been decided by a single goal with Rosyth ahead 3-1. Therefore this game promised
fireworks, however it's not what was provided. Rosyth ran out easy winners with the Primrose putting in the most lacklustre performance of their very poor season. The visitors were ahead inside 3 minutes when Sawers slotted in a fine goal from the edge of the box from a squared off free kick. However the joy for Sawers was short lived as he had to go off injured shortly afterwards after a tackle with Primrose's MacBride who also required to be substituted. Midway through the first half Rosyth went two up from a Spence goal and that was effectively game over. Shortly into the second half Primrose brought on new signing Sykes to try and break down the Rosyth defence but McNeely was never really troubled in the Rec's goal. Towards the end of the half Rosyth made it three when Spence accepted a tap in from a move that mowed through the non existant defence and left poor Smith woefully exposed. The young keeper had a good game but he must have felt at times that he was taking on the entire Rosyth team by himself. Teams. Primrose: Smith, Hobbs, McBride, Millar, Lakie, McLeod, Laing, Foster, Osborne, Deans, Patrick. Subs: Westgarth, Sykes, McQue, Rushford, Ash Rosyth Recreation: McNeely, Ross, Ryan, Smart, McMahon, Waugh, Vaughan, Sawers, Ferguson, Spence, Tanner Subs: Gratton, Stenhouse, Logan, Leighton Ref: Steven Crichton **** A good game by the ref who kept on top of things without letting anything get out of hand he dished out 4 yellows, 2 per side although Ash was carded for a foul by a different Primrose player (MacBride and Ash for Primrose. Ross and McMahon for Rosyth). Man of the match: Graeme Deans. He was everywhere but just never got the service his work deserved. |
