The Primrose arrived at Gardiner Park on a high after their fantastic comeback and
win last week at Camelon and with one of the scoring trialists from last weeks
game having signed for us then the boys were looking for a good result. I have seen Lochgelly play a couple times in the last month (v Dundonald and Rosyth) and was worried about their pace on the break but the Primrose held them easily in check and for a pleasant change this year it was the Primrose that were making the breaks. Early pressure saw the Primrose win a few corners and a perfectly struck cross from Grant Laing was met by James Lakie whos header just sailed over the bar. Shortly after a cross field ball was met by Millar who again shot just wide. New signing Bristow was linking well with McLeod and was troubling Coull in the Lochgelly goal. One of the balls crossed over was met by Patrick steaming in and it ricochet off him past the post by a fraction of an inch. Twenty five minutes into the game and Bristow, with his back to goal got the ball on his chest and then hit a volley as he fell back that left Coull no chance. One nil the Primrose. Shortly after this Coull had to be substituted, not sure if he was injured or not. The replacement keeper Grewer was quickly given a baptism of fire when McLeod fired back a poor kick out. Five minutes into the second half and Primrose got a penalty when the ball struck one of the Lochgelly players on the arm. Steve Bristow took the kick which beat Grewer and gave Bristow his second of the game. 68 minutes in and Patrick was substituted by Sykes. Two minutes later and Laing broke up the right for the Primrose who passed an inch perfect ball to McLeod who switched the ball to Foster who had steamed up the left. Foster sent over a superb cross that Sykes met perfectly and nodded home the third for the Primrose. After this the game was pretty much over and five minutes from time John Hobbs gave the home team a consolation when a cross coming over struck him as he was running in and deflected past his keeper Smith for an unfortunate goal. Lochgelly had a couple free kicks on the edge of the box but Smith wasn't troubled. Substitutions for Primrose were Sykes for Foster, Deans for Bristow and McQue for Millar and substitutions for Lochgelly were Grewer for Coull and Miller for Adamson Primrose: Smith, Patrick, Hobbs, Millar, Lakie, McLeod, Laing, Ash, Westgarth, Bristow, Foster Subs: Sykes, Deans, McQue, Osborne, Rushford Lochgelly Albert: Coull, Thow, Keir, Morris, Adamson, McBain, Wilson, Sinclair, Morrison, Drysdale, Wright Subs: Thomson, Miller, Watt, Searle, Grewer Ref: **** Mr. William Conquer: Another fine game from one of our better referees. Wouldn't have had much cause to use his cards if the players from either side kept their mouths shut. Man of the match: New signing Steven Bristow. Two goals and came close several other times. |
