Primrose came to Kelty today disappointed to only have one point to their name after
some fine team perfromances in the last few weeks and what better place to
start their league campaign than at the ground where they won the last twice the
visited and eager to get one up on the old manager again. The game was fairly end to end right from the off with Kelty having a wee bit more of the play, their strike force took a set back however when Lee Black had to go off after an ankle knock, he was replaced by Steven Sharp. It was the Primrose that opened the scoring however when Mike Brown threaded a ball through to Brian Boardman who slipped his marker and casually slotted a left foot shot in from the edge of the box. Kelty came at the Primrose again but again they soaked up what was thrown at them. Two minutes from half time Ricky Buchanan slipped the ball between two Kelty defenders to Ravenscroft who took it down to the left hand corner. His cross was hit with his left foot and it looked to be heading towards Fleming in the Kelty goal but half way there it started to swerve just enough for Fleming to miss it but Mike Brown met it perfectly to head the Primrose further ahead. Half time Kelty 0 Crossgates 2 The second half started just frantically as the first had finished and again the action was end to end. Kelty had the ball in the net after about 10 minutes but it was chalked off for offside. Kelty probably created more chances but young Steven Horn had a fine match between the sticks. 15 minutes from time and Boardman had a chance to put the Primrose 3 ahead but his strike was well saved by Fleming and Brown felt that a square ball could have been a better option. Kelty broke from this attack and after a scramble in the box Sharp scored for Kelty to make the final minutes somewhat tense. Brown had a good chance to restore the two goal lead after he turned the keeper on the edge of the box but his shot was blocked by a defender just off the line, a square ball to Spence could have been a better choice. Kelty fought right to the end but the defence, well marshalled by Mullen held them at bay. Final score Kelty 1 Crossgates 2 Primrose: Horn, Haggett, Ravenscroft, A. Ferguson, Mullen, R.
