Crossgates took the iniative early on and Scott Ross's snap shot from the edge of
the box was parried onto the bar by Tranent keeper Connon, although for some strange
reason the ref gave a goal kick, a decision that would somehow flummox the
ref throughout the game. Crossgates took the lead when Ross took down an Osborne cross on the edge of the six yard box and he duly burried it in the net before Tranent were able to close him down. Shortly after this and Deans was bowled over in the box but the ref refused the penalty. Tranent had the best of the last 10 minutes of the first half and had a sitter missed when it looked easier to score. Houston in goal for Primrose also made two fine saves from well struck shots. Tranent equalised a couple minutes into the second half when Chris Gordon took the ball down on the edge of the box. He shot through a mellee of players and Houston, seeing it late only manged to parry it into the bottom corner of the goal. Crossgates re-took the lead when a long kick out from Houston was taken down by Osborne who hit a graeat throughball to Ross who rounded the keeper before claiming his second of the match. Gordon then scored his and Tranent second to equalise before Craig Harvey put the home team ahead when a looping header dipped in over the keeper. Crossgates made a few substitutions and Lee Black almost levelled the game with his first kick of the ball. However it was Osborne who got the much deserved equaliser. The game finished level which on the whole was probably a fair result. It went to penalties which Tranent won 5-4 when Connon saved Deans' penalty.
