Le comté de Fife s’étend entre la Forth et la Tay. A Crail, prés d’Anstruther, subsitent les restes d’un couvent et di pavillon royal de chasse. Le petit port fut autrefois un important port de mer.
Crail is eine der ältesten Städte in der Grafschaft Fife. Sein einst wichtiger Hochseehafen beherbergt heute noch einige Fischerboote.

The county — or Kingdom — of Fife lies between the estuaries of the Forth and Tay, forming a peninsula with the sea on its eastern flank. Crail, one of the oldest of the royal burgs of Fife, is some 4 miles north-east of Anstruther. Traces remain of a nunnery and of the royal hunting lodge which once stood here. The harbour was at one time a flourishing seaport.
