The Walking Lake Of Jupiter
Synopsis:
Doctors Brown and Smith contact Space Headquarters with astounding news - water from a lake they have discovered on Jupiter makes inanimate objects move! As Dart arrives, Dr Brown spills some on himself and his spacesuit takes off for the swamps with him trapped in it. Dart and Husky rescue him and take the suit back to Earth for analysis but the situation on Jupiter worsens when the lake expands causing the whole area where the Jupiter Scientific HQ is to shake out of control...

And The Moral Is:
It Doesn't Always Pay To Follow Suit
Huskyisms:
That was a close hair cut alright. And he once again calls Dart Larry when returning to the Galasphere."
Raeburnt:
You mustnt land on a part (of Jupiter) we havent explored yet. Goodness knows what you might come up against.
A Venusian Has...:
The ability to pay a back handed compliment. When Raeburn tells her You think of everything., she replies So do you, Colonel. When you are not thinking of your plants.
Dont Call Me Pop!:
If I didnt know better, Id swear that suit was dancing an Irish jig!
Is This A Joke ?:
Raeburn, when told of the water Now look Smith, this isnt April Fools Day.
Continuity:
Galasphere 347 is returning to Earth from a mission to Ganymede at the start of the episode.
Raeburn seems to have taken a liking to tending plants, and Gabbler to eating them!
2100 ?:
Gabbler, startled by the moving spacesuit at Space Headquarters, yells, Thief, Fire, Murder, Police, Ambulance... !
Harmony For Strings:
A nice catch by the net!
Havent I Seen... ?:
Brown and Smith are wearing the black diving suits previously seen at the Underwater Sea Farm.
The electric discharge guns mounted on the hover jets are the ion guns pointed the other way.
Raeburns turkish bath uses the clear door of Zeffers star measuring/invisibility machine.
Take A Break:
Doctor Brown says "I'd like to see Haggarty's face when he takes a look at that.".
"That pailful of water Brown brought back from the lake
has expanded, and is spreading everywhere!"
Colonel Raeburn
Astro Viewer Working:
The opening sequence doesn't begin with 'This Is Earth, the year 2100' but simply 'This is the headquarters of Space Patrol... '.
The Jovian landscape has a starry background rather than the stormy sky and the interior of the Jupiter Scientific HQ is different in this episode from the previous two.
Brown speaks with a similarly cultured voice to Smith, rather than the semi-Irish brogue he used in The Shrinking Spaceman.
We see Raeburn taking his much loved and frequently interrupted turkish bath for the first time.
The main window in Raeburn's office has its grid raised, implying it opens upwards.
Joe's neck is notably darker in appearance.
Joe's head spins courtesy of thin wire wrapped around his head which is slowly pulled away.
Hoorah!:
The shaking scenery is well done, something that could probably only be achieved with a puppet series.
Smith and Brown wobbling after everything else has stopped moving is a nice touch too.
Boo!:
Why doesnt the test tube used to bottle the water float off ?
Dart loses his elektran while in the Jupiter Scientific HQ.
When the scientists are outside, Dr Smith goes to contact Galasphere 347 but it is Dr Brown who is heard and seen (twice).
As the crew make their second dive with the electric discharge guns, Darts and Huskys arent working.
Neither Smith or Brown have elektrans when talking to Joe at the end of the episode.
No explanation is given, apart from vague references to 'massive amounts of energy', as to why the objects become animated.

One of the lakes on Jupiter is found to contain water with extraordinary properties. This is of great interest to the scientists, but from being a matter of interest the water soon turns to being a matter of deadly peril to the planet.
Malta, July 2nd 1964:
Scientists at Jupiter H.Q. inform Raeburn they have discovered a lake, the water of which has special properties. When rubbed on to an inanimate object, it immediately springs to life. Dart and his crew are sent to bring back some samples, but when they arrive on Jupiter one of the scientists inadvertantly spills some of the liquid on his own suit. The suit comes to life and immediately starts moving towards the deadly swamps.
Ready To Lift ?:
A curious and inconsequential episode that almost seems like a filler to utilise the Jupiter landscape one more time.
