Ada Hampton 1908–2008
Some of us I know went to Ada Hampton’s 100th birthday celebration in October and were amazed how young she seemed. So we were surprised and saddened when she died a few days later.
I, like most current members, have a very limited view of the history of the club. I was only aware that Ada, our oldest life member, was still interested in the club and contributed to it but had no knowledge of what she had done for it in the past.
Ada Hampton was a very special lady and even though she had given up teaching a long time ago, she still attended Club Championships as an honoured guest. She was also a past president of RSC and Worcester County Swimming Association.
Margaret Craner has sent a couple of photos of Ada. One from many years ago when she was teaching children every Saturday night - she is walking along the poolside with Geoff Craner, who helped her for a long time.

The second, colour, photo is from a Club Championships when she was presenting the prize to the parent's race winner, who just happened to be Geoff Craner on that occasion.

The following picture (excuse the quality) is from the Redditch Indicator of July 1966 and covers a 3 day sports festival held in Redditch.
