Redditch Swimming Club achieved no fewer than 20 personal best times as
they hosted the Redditch Trophy Gala at Droitwich on Saturday 29th January. The
club entered two teams (the Blues and the Reds) against two teams from
Worcester and a team from Evesham and this gave opportunity to intoduce a
number of new swimmers and a further 16 new times were recorded and valuable
experience gained.
The blue team had two swimmers achieving double firsts, Danielle Harwood in the 12 and under
backstroke and butterfly and Elizabeth Humphries
in the 11 and under backstroke and butterfly. Amy
Foster took first in the 9year breaststroke and there were
second places for Taylor Hartley in
the 9 years breaststroke and James Green
in the 11 and 12 year butterfly and 11 year breaststroke.
For the red team there were wins for Lucy
Knibbs (12 and under breaststroke), Naomi Legge (10
and under backstroke), Michaela Britt
(11 and under breaststroke) and Sophie
Randall (11 and under freestyle).
Second places were scored by Lucy Knibbs
(12 year backstroke), Phillip Gifford
(12 year breaststroke), Michaela Britt
(11 year butterfly), Lydia May (9
year freestyle) and Sophie Bridgman
(10 year butterfly). Also finishing second were the girls 9year freestyle and
mixed stroke squads.
Competing for the teams were Joshua
Major-Seager(PB), Samantha Lindsay, Abigail Enston, Simon
Hotchin, Flossie Eglinton, Sumant Kapoor(PB), Emma Hardacre(PB), Brandon Dunn,
Jan Freihammer(PB), Melissa Wood(PB), Emily Corden, Jack Buckley, Rachel
Legge(PB), Bethany May, Clara Parker, Sasha Knibbs(PB), Burgess Ellison,
Bethany Austin(PB), Oliver Pleavey, Jack Nash, Christopher Ball(PB), Lewis
Biddle, Sophie Parkins, Cassandra Robinson, Hetty Mosforth, James Foxall and
David Green.
On this occasion
the reds managed to finish ahead of the blues. The final score being
Worcester(green) 191, Evesham 173, Worcester(blue) 124, Redditch Reds 119,
Redditch Blues 99
