Diddy League Round 3 Report

Halesowen - 25th June 2005

Redditch Swimming Club maintained its place in the top division of the Nuneaton & District Junior Swimming League for next year with another spirited performance.

As in round 2 the result was in doubt until the last event, with four teams, including Redditch, in contention for third spot.

The mixed freestyle relay team (Lydia May, David Green, Hannah Rolls, Daniel Strange, Elizabeth Humphreys, James Green, Danielle Harwood and Robert Stanley) put on a great show narrowly coming second to the gala winners Boldmere. This was enough to secure fourth place overall just a single point behind local rivals Bromsgrove and a single point ahead of Orion.

The close competition had earlier brought out some fine individual and squad performances. Individual victories went to Daniel Strange in the 10yrs backstroke and Michaela Britt in the 11yrs breaststroke, Daniel also scored second place in the 10 yrs butterfly.

There were also super swims from Amy Foster (second in 9yrs breaststroke), Danielle Harwood (second in both12 yrs backstroke and 12 yrs butterfly), Elizabeth Humphreys (second in 11 yrs backstroke and third in 11 yrs butterfly) and David Green (second in 9 yrs backstroke).

Third places went to Robert Stanley (12 yrs backstroke), Sophie Parkins (12 yrs breaststroke), James Green (11 yrs fly and 11 yrs breaststroke), Hannah Rolls (10 yrs backstroke) and Emma Hardacre (10 yrs butterfly).

On the relay front the 10yrs girls squad (Flossie Eglinton, Hannah Rolls, Emma Hardacre and Sophie Bridgman) scored second in the medley and third in the freestyle. The 11yrs Medley team (Olivia Laxton, Michaela Britt, Elizabeth Humphreys and Sophie Randall) also took third place as did the mixed age girls freestyle team.

Also competing for Redditch were Phillip Gifford, Jan Freihammer, Chris Ball, Robert Newlyn, Oliver Pleavey, Taylor Hartley, Joshua Major-Seager, Simon Hotchin, Bethany May, Samantha Lindsay and Molly Dutton in her first Diddy League gala.

The final result was:
