West Midlands Regional Biathlon Championships & Open Triathlon 1st April 2007
Congratulations to the 12 RSC members who competed in this event.
Nicola Moss led the way with wins in both biathlon and triathlon in Youth E Girls with Caitlin Green in a super 6th in her first biathlon and Eve Battle also in her first finishing 10th. Caitlin and Nicola have qualified for the National finals in May.
The Youth E boys team worked well together. In the running they showed three different approaches, Braiden Hartles stormed off but probably paid the price later in the run, Dan Bridgman made a rather leisurely start before moving through the field whereas Adam Watson kept a steady pace throughout. The result was that all 3 finished within three seconds of each other! The team swam well too and the overall Dan finished 2nd, Braiden 3rd and Adam 4th. The team were comfortable winners and all three qualify for the Nationals. Dan added the individual triathlon trophy to this.
Youth D girls team were up against strong competition. Hannah Rolls did well to finish 2nd. Sophie Bridgman finished 11th and Heather Robbins 18th, with the team finishing 4th overall. Hannah qualifies for the National finals. Sophie added a good shoot to her score and moved up to finish 4th in the triathlon.
Youth B girls, Suzie Britt, Courtney Hide and Emma Green won the team event with Suzie taking first place, Emma 3rd and Courtney, who was struggling with an injury in the run, 5th. They also qualify for the Nationals.
