Update 29/8/03
The laptop was returned today, almost as good as new. I say almost because the modem won't work. And as good as new because it is the way it was when I first bought it - thay had to replace the Hard Drive. Everything is lost, my precious.

The Laptop is away being fixed!!
After eight months of it in a cupboard, there may be hope
for it yet! Way back in January, I was told by PC World in Braehead
that the laptop could not be fixed there, and that I must send it to France
as a cost of around £70 to ship it out there, before the cost of the
repairs. An inspection of the receipt by the jobsworth behind the desk
resulted in me being told it was out of warranty. Skip ahead to the 18th
of August when I got a letter in from Mastercare warning me that my cover
is going to expire on the 9th of September for the laptop, and because
I had not used Mastercare I would get a discount when renewing.This was news to me. On the poorly printed out receipt it saya 1 + 2 Yrs. I was covered in January. A call to Mastercare resulted in the laptop being collected for free two days later, to be repaired free of charge! In the UK. The man on the phone said that the problem was "simple" to fix. Unless you work for PC world of course. All going well it should be back soon, either with a blank Hard Drive or the way it was before. Either way is fine with me, as long as the thing works.
I have put up the education site on Lycos!
There is now a clone of the education site on
the tripod pages of Lycos. It's even listed in their Directory. I've
called it the Learning Zone, and added some new bits here and there.
Don't worry, I will update both the new site and this Education site at
the same time. I've also had a rethink about what to
do with the Recon Diary
