- I am based in Surrey and typically cover an area within an hour's drive of Guildford. But for multiple horses/sessions and/or workshops I can be more flexible
- I offer equine shiatsu treatments, equine behaviour consultations (to learn more and/or to solve problems), behaviour workshops/lectures and barefoot hoof-trimming (see leaflet). I can also offer relaxing human shiatsu treatments for clients who wish to understand more about what their horses are experiencing (please note that, despite some basic training in human shiatsu, I am not qualified as a human shiatsu practitioner).
We can discuss your requirements and decide whether we both think my approach is right for you and your horse. You are not obliged to book an appointment.
What to expect from a call-out:
- For shiatsu treatments, the 1966 Vet. Act requires you to sign a form stating that you have obtained veterinary permission for the treatment. For behaviour consultations I still advise that you have the horse's teeth, back and saddle checked by a recognised professional.
- We will spend some time discussing your horse and the relationship you have with him/her, good and bad
- I will spend some time observing your horse, sometimes in the field, sometimes in the stable, both standing relaxed and being led at walk
- Shiatsu treatments will last approximately a further 30-45 minutes, depending on the horse. I will not force the treatment on the horse if he/she is unhappy with it or if a short treatment was sufficient
- Behavioural consultations will depend on the situation but would typically last 1 or 2 hours
- We will develop some goals and devise a training programme for the next few weeks
Prices:
I charge £ 30 for a shiatsu session or per hour of a behaviour consultation. Discounts are available for multiple horses on the same yard and/or multiple sessions booked for the same horse. I do not add mileage charges. These costs include follow-up contact by email/telephone if you would like to discuss anything after the session. Human shiatsu treatments cost £ 10 for clients also booking equine treatments.
What to expect from a workshop:
- This will depend on the number of people and their experience. I would suggest that you find a group of 8-12 people of similar experience and interest.
- We will spend 1 or 2 days developing some of the ideas on this website and putting it all into practice. Clicker training will be included for those who are interested.
- Prices will be approximately £ 40 per person per day but please contact me for confirmation.
Barefoot Hoof Trimming
I am an independent barefoot hoof trimmer (non-invasive, non-Strasser) and have time to take on a limited number of clients. Please contact me to discuss your requirements and prices if you are interested.
