Geraldine Whitney has an open interest in contemplative philosophy and religion, and feels that we have lost our true sense of mystery, of opening the mind to the unknown. She is aware that visionary seeing is a force against the literal mind, which believes things are as they appear, and hopes her quiet paintings will encourage the viewer to experience the sublime. For this principle, her work is abstract, without form or clear line.

To The Gallery

Executed with the use of a spray gun, the forms and colours merge, making a hazy impression upon the eye. The surfaces of these beautiful, contemplative paintings are smooth and untouched by the artist's hand, totally different from a more traditional painting. Her work is about light and it's reflection, computer manipulated from photographs. Geraldine Whitney's works appear to have an ethereal quality with ambiguous connotations.
