Not only are Dalmatians known as Carriage Dogs and Firehouse Dogs but, in America, they also have a long-standing association with Dray Carts - or Hitches. In the early days of brewing, Dalmatians were bred and trained to protect the horses and guard the wagon when the driver went inside to make deliveries.
